Book review Millionaire Upgrade

November 30th, 2010

I was listing to Richard Parkes Cordocks book Millionare Upgrade. It is a quite interesting book.

It is a story about a man sitting beside a successful entrepreneur in a plane ride. During the course of the flight the successful entrepreneur tell his story on how to become successful. It is some quite valuable lessons. I guess I have heard most of them before, but the idea of placing them so close together is quite interesting. It is a god way to put them all together.

One framework used in the book is to tie everything together is the phrase:

I BELIEVE

This is composed of

  • I Believe in my self
  • Be passionate and wanted, so you are totally motivated to get your goals
  • Lies and luck don’t work. Luck is the cross road of opportunities
  • Installing goals. They should be written down
  • Enjoy hard work; you have to want to work because you just love it.
  • Very Very Persistent, just have to keep the nose in the rill.
  • Expect failure. There will be mistakes and you have to be able to stop projects

Then there is team work to get everything to work. You need to be able to get people to work together.

Free From Corporate America

November 17th, 2010

I just finished reading Free from Corporate America by Jon Reed (@jonerp). Subtitle: “A tactical guide to success on your own terms”. I purchased it a while ago, but it was first now I got time to read it. It is defiantly worth a read.

The book emphasize that we all must have a way to make us less venerable to be fired from our jobs. The process is a bit more long term and helps identify that you need to create some way to brand yourself in a way that will allow you to create extra income.

The book is something in the lines of Timothy Ferris 4 Hour Work Week. It is the same base assumption on creating a secondary goal. 4 hour work week is a bit more focus on creating products and a vision to get a way. Free from corporate America is more focus on creating products and finances them.

Jon is telling his story on how he is building is brand and creating assets. It contains some detailed instructions on how and when to create your new assets.

One thing I would have loved to see more of in the book was Jon’s ideas on how SAP consultants, a way that freelancers could leverage their knowledge better.

It is inspiring to hear that other people have success in the cooperate work with creating their own brands and assets. The persistence is the key; you can create a book with just 3 hours a week for 3 years. It means that everybody can become an expert in something.

One cool word I learned is Aficionado. An aficionado is an expert in something that other people really don’t care about and is not something that can bring in money.

If you buy from the links on Amazon, I’ll make a few cents on the books.

Taler konkurence om ”Tro kan flytte bjerge”

August 19th, 2010

Talen kan du se her under.

My First Ironman, Check

August 16th, 2010

Sunday I did my first ever ironman the Copenhagen Challenge. I did it in 11 hours 8 minutes. I did have a really fine day where I learn a lot of my body.

I have recorded a small video of the event, right after the finish. I’m probably not speaking clearly.

I saw a lot of people going out with punctured tires. I was hoping that I was not going to experience a flat, which thankfully never happened. I had filled the bag with to spare tubes, so I was prepared.

When I switched to the run the first 1½km until the first sign I saw was really long. It seemed like I had run for ever before I just saw that sign. Then the run started to be much better. I had expected to have some problems with the knees, but they thankfully never came. I guess the slow running style and the long practice had helped with strengthening my legs. I just felt strong.

It was such a wonderful experience to participate in the event. All the crowds that cheered along the way it gave an extra boost to see people sitting outside their house and having breakfast to watch us. On the running corse it was also real powerful to cheer on me with my name.

On the bike course there was an extra bonus. Normally when I see a traffic light change to yellow I stop paddling. Then I remembered that they have stopped the traffic for me. It gave an extra boost, also to go full speed into all the lights. It was also interesting to watch that the cars were stopped for our sake. I do feel the cars that they had to wait for us on all the traffic jams in Lyngby/Holte area. Sorry, but we had fun.

I had the following splits. I had expected 1:05 for the swim, and then 6:30 for the bike and 4:12 for the run. So it was a real god presentation. I was trying not to pace my self to hard during the first part of the biking trip. I hoped just on getting by and staying well within my comfort range. When I found that the speed was around the 32, then I was quite happy. I had a bit of side stitch in the first hour of the bike, but it just despaired.

On Sunday the August 15 2010 I’m going to partcipate in my first Ironman distance run. Challengecopenhagen.

I have starting number 854.

If you want to follow me in my progress the easy way is to use the SMS service:

You will then receive all split times and finish times during race day. The cost is 50øre per sms received. You can always stop this service by sending “Challenge stop xxxx”.

SAP camp at the German Formula One Grand Prix

July 13th, 2010

I have been going to the Formula One Grandprix for some years. I have always enjoyed staying at the campgrounds. It is a mix with people just wanting to party, have fun and be creative in coming up with campgrounds. I like going there to be reset and see what is possible and get some time to relax. Plus enjoy some loud noises and some racing.

Now this year the German Grand Prix is in Hockenheim, close to SAP HQ in Waldorf. It is on July 23-25 2010. So I thought that some other SAP professionals also are going to the event. It could be a great place to network and met other people who have a passion for SAP and motorsports.

It would be fun to catch up with some other SAP professionals, so if you are going to the Grandprix drop a comment and let’s find a time to get something to drink or something to eat. I do hope to get a lot of responses, and then we might even be able to create some kind of a camp.

A word of warning with Okuma Group fraud

July 9th, 2010

It seems like the company Okuma Group is trying to move into Denmark also. They have some well spoken sale men that are trying to sell their products. They expect the stock of Trina Solar Limited to go from $20 to 40 or 50 in a couple of months.

They have also tried to call German speaking countries like described on Amazingly elaborate fraud scheme: Okuma Group.

What is interesting is that the company name domain is only registered on 12 feb 2010 according to WHOIS. And even better it is register to an anonymous user. It does not sound trust worthy.

They news list is not real trust worthy it only dates back until July 2 2010 and only contains links to other analytics.

They also offered a less tax way thru clearing houses exotic places. Wander if you would ever see the money again.
